Maria C. Suarez speaks on Cyber Security: Why does it Matter?

Please join us for a WIM Speaker Series luncheon with Ms. Maria C. Suarez, Director of Information Security at USC. Ms. Suarez is responsible for leading the information security assurance aspects such as web application security, vulnerability management, digital forensics, incident response, and awareness/communication/education. One of 3 finalists in the “Women of Influence” award in the government/higher education sector in 2013, Ms. Suarez is recognized as one of Computer World’s Premier 100 IT Professionals in January 2005 for her thought-leadership in laptop encryption, audit trails, and, managing vendor security risk. Ms. Suarez’s award-winning experience in the field of Information Technology has evolved within the higher education, healthcare, and financial services industries. She is characterized as a leader bridging business and information technology specializing in information security, risk management, data privacy and regulatory compliance. Her professional contributions have been applied at Fortune 32 and Fortune 500 companies as well as a major hospital system within the NYC area. She has an MBA in Computer Information Systems from St. John’s University in NYC, with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the City University of New York. She is certified as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) by Carnegie-Mellon University, certified information security professional (CISSP), a certified information security manager (CISM), a certified information systems auditor (CISA), and, certified in the governance of enterprise IT (CGEIT). And we are delighted Ms. Suarez will be speaking to us on September 30.
