Mirtha Villarreal-Younger is a dynamic leader with more than 30 years of military, state and corporate experience. She has served in both the US Army and the California Army National Guard and deployed to many locations with a combat tour to Afghanistan in 2004. Governor Edmund Brown appointed Mirtha to be the Deputy Secretary Minority Veterans for the California Department Veterans Affairs (CDVA) to provide advocacy, outreach, and support for minority and underrepresented veterans. She served as the Chief of Staff for the California State Military Reserve in California Military Department. Mirtha was recently named 2018 Veteran of the Year, by Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and currently serves as the Chairwomen for California Department Disabled Veterans 2020 Convention.  She has served as Executive Director for the Center for Post Traumatic Growth, a startup not for profit dedicated to helping Veterans and their families heal from the traumas of war. Mirtha actively volunteers to serve veterans and underrepresented communities such as participating in the Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Summit at UC Davis, motivating youth to pursue higher education as a means to attain success.

Mirtha is an entrepreneur and in 2016 she and her husband founded Agile Construction Inc.  Mirtha serves as president and sets the vision and direction of Agile.  Agile is a Small Business/Disabled Veteran Enterprise (DVBE) Certified company that provides project management and consulting.  Agile is the DVBE construction consultant for CalSTER, a 12 million endeavor in West Sacramento, CA.

As a first-generation American, Mirtha is dedicated to serving the nation and state that has afforded her and her family a prosperous way of life.  As a mother of a young girl she is determined to continue to fight for equity for all.
