In the announcement, the Women’s Prize said: “Home Fire is about identity, conflicting loyalties, love and politics. And it sustains mastery of its themes and its form. It is a remarkable book which we passionately recommend.” The NYTimes reviewer said that it “[b]uilds to one of the most memorable final scenes I’ve read in a novel this century.” It seemed to me like the perfect book for us to read.
