Kathleen G. Nelson, MD is the new Associate Dean for Wellness at the USC Keck School of Medicine. For more on her appointment, click here.
Working closely with Dr. Gomer, Dr. Nelson is helping to expand faculty development opportunities at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and The Saban Research Institute. She is also responsible for establishing and facilitating a leadership development program, working closely with the faculty on professional development issues and with the Department of Pediatrics on faculty recruitment.
Dr. Nelson is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in education and faculty development. She is a graduate of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (ELAM) and serves as chair of the Council of Academic Societies (CAS) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and is a member of the AAMC Board of Directors. She has been President of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), a member of the National Advisory Committee of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, and member of the Governing Board of the Global Health Education Consortium.
